These lesson plans model ways of using works of art to teach comprehension strategies and build literacy skills in grades K-8. The lesson plans may be used to generate ideas for integrated instruction or as stand-alone activities that reinforce goals and objectives for each content area. The lesson plans are adaptable to varying amounts of time and depth of instruction. Art and Language Arts teachers are encouraged to collaborate in the teaching of these lessons.
