These lesson plans model ways of using works of art to encourage students in grades 5-8 to investigate connections between art, science and the cultures of Central America. The lesson plans may be used to generate ideas for integrated instruction or as stand-alone activities that reinforce goals and objectives for each content area. The lesson plans are adaptable to varying amounts of time and depth of instruction. Art and science teachers are encouraged to collaborate in the teaching of these lessons and use them in conjunction with the Mystery of the Poison Dart Frog on-line game.
