The Resource Room provides easy access to the Museum's educational resources and programs. You can enjoy these materials online, in your classroom or in the Museum's galleries. These materials can be searched by subject, grade level and geographic region by using the search menu on the ArtNC home page.

NC Connections Introduces students to the art and culture of North Carolina.


3rd Grade Arts in the Schools Tour Introduces 3rd graders to art that teaches about communities around the world. Click on the link to the left to learn more about the tour and to download a PDF or Power Point version of the pre-visit materials.


Teacher Workshops All workshops are on Saturdays, 9:30 a.m.—noon
Fees: $18 per workshop ($16 for Educator Members)
Partial credit of .25 CEU will be awarded per session.


Lectures Noted scholars and museum professionals provide lectures and symposia at select times. These programs explore NCMA works of art in art historical context.


North Carolina Arts Council This state agency is a division of the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources. Their mission is to make North Carolina a better state through the arts. Their Web site offers online resources, such as Arts in Education Issues and Topics (topics for education with a section on notable North Carolina and national programs), Arts in Education Grants (role of the Council in providing support to schools and nonprofit organizations to strengthen the use of the arts in pre K– 12 settings), and Resources and Links (active links to the major arts education Web sites, state and national arts education associations and advocacy resources).


Elementary Park Self-Guide "Environmental Investigators" is a self-guide for elementary school students to use in the Museum Park. It presents a sampling of art and nature in the Museum Park and suggests art and science activities to use during a visit and in the classroom. Made possible by Funds for the Improvement of Education from the US Dept. of Education.


Arts North Carolina This independent organization provides programs and services designed to promote and strengthen the arts industry of North Carolina. Staff and Board also administer the work of Arts Advocates of North Carolina, a 501 (c) (4) non-profit organization, whose primary function is to provide advocacy leadership and training in public funding and policy affecting the arts. Their Web site offers links to arts organizations, professional consulting services, a listserv for arts professionals, communications tools for supporting the arts, and other services.


Catawba Valley Endowment A limited number of scholarships are available on a first-come basis for teachers in Alexander, Iredell, Caldwell, Burke and Catawba counties. Scholarships may be used for workshops, student projects, art supplies and in-bound trips to the NCMA. Funds are also available to pay substitutes for teachers wishing to enroll in a workshop.


Family Festivals Free fun-filled Saturdays for all ages to encounter, enjoy, engage, express and explore. Free festivals focus on themes in art and nature that can be found in the Museum's galleries and grounds.


Children's Performance Series One Saturday a month, fall through spring, the Children's Performance Series offers an engaging program selected from puppetry, music, storytelling, dance or drama. Short films, including some based on award-winning children's literature, are also featured on occasional Saturday mornings.
