This curriculum unit models an integrated approach to teaching. Works of art from the NCMA's ancient American collection serve as entry points for discussions about Costa Rican culture, ecosystems and art-making techniques. Teachers of grades 5 through 8 are encouraged to use the object descriptions, classroom activity ideas and lesson plans in conjunction with the Mystery of the Poison Dart Frog on-line game.
