LUNCH AND LEARN SERIES
11 a.m. $25 per session, $20 Members
These seminar sessions begin with presentations by curators in the galleries or Museum Auditorium and cover a variety of topics related to the permanent collection or temporary exhibitions. Each includes discussions that continue through lunch in Blue Ridge, the Museum Restaurant. Registration limited and required for combined lecture-and-lunch program.

Dr. Kondoleon presents highlights of the first-ever exhibition on Aphrodite/Venus, scheduled to open at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in 2010. A complex goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite demonstrated great powers, including sparking the Trojan War. Come and learn about the seductive powers of Aphrodite, her lovers, and her many children.

Floral designer Steve Taras, of Watered Garden Florist, explores the limitless possibilities of flower sculpture and functional art at our next demonstration. Learn to make wearable art and functional pieces using flowers.
Bonsai: Art Expressed through Nature

Introduced to the New World from China through Japan, bonsai has captivated people for centuries. Evolving from Zen Buddhism to a symbol of the Japanese eliteand gaining popularity in the Westbonsai has long fascinated cultures around the world. Join North Carolinian Harold Johnson for an appealing look at this revered horticultural art form. Johnson is a past board member of the American Bonsai Society, national competition winner and judge, and teacher of bonsai at master gardeners conferences.
