The Museum is open TuesdayThursday and Saturday 9 a.m.5 p.m., Friday 9 a.m.9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.5 p.m. The Museum is closed on Monday.What food is available at the Museum? Blue Ridge, the Museum Restaurant, is located on the lower level of the Museum and is open TuesdaySaturday, 11:30 a.m.2 p.m. Blue Ridge is open for dinner during special exhibitions on Friday evenings from 5:30 until 10 p.m. with the last seating at 8:30 p.m.What hotels are nearby? Visit www.visitraleigh.com for a list of hotels.Is there a charge for the Museum? There is never a charge to visit the Museum's permanent collection. The Museum does charge for special exhibitions.May I take pictures or videos at the Museum or outdoor event? Video recording is not permitted inside the Museum or at Museum Park Theater events. Visitors are welcome to use hand-held cameras without flash or tripod. Certain copyrighted 20th-century works may not be photographed. Be sure to check the wall label located beside each work of art for permission. Photography is not permitted in special exhibitions.Is the Museum wheelchair accessible? Yes. The Museum is wheelchair accessible by elevator and via ramps for the Museum Park Theater and Cinema. Wheelchairs are available for your use at the Museum and may be checked out at the Information Desk.What else should I know to make my trip to the Museum enjoyable? Parking: Available in the Museum's free lot. Overflow parking is available in the lot facing Blue Ridge Road and on occasion, on the Museum lawn. Bus or motorcoach parking is in the last row of the Museum's parking lot.(back to top) How do I order tickets? Tickets may be purchased on-line, in person at the Museum Box Office, or by calling the Museum Box Office at (919) 715-5923.Why do I have to specify a time for my exhibition tickets? Tickets for special exhibitions are timed in order to control crowd flow into exhibition galleries. You may gain entrance into an exhibition beginning with the time listed on your ticket up until the next half-hour interval. Once inside the exhibition, you are welcome to spend as much time there as you would like.What kinds of payment are accepted? The Museum Box Office accepts cash, personal checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.Where do I pick up tickets I have ordered in advance? Tickets ordered in advance will be held at Will Call at the Museum Box Office. Tickets held for pickup on the evening of outdoor concerts will be available at a table located outside the front door of the Museum that evening.Do I have to buy exhibition tickets in advance? As a general rule, tickets may be purchased at the Museum Box Office upon arrival at the Museum. During holidays and the final weeks of any exhibition, advance purchase is recommended as tickets frequently sell out during those times.What age constitutes a senior citizen? To qualify for a senior citizen discount, when available, a visitor must be 65 or older.Does my child need a ticket? The ticketing policy for children varies based upon the event. For paid special exhibitions, children 12 and under are admitted free with an adult. For most concerts and films, tickets are required for any child two and up. Children under two are admitted free if held in the lap of an adult. Any questions regarding specific events may be directed to the Museum Box Office at (919) 715-5923.How many tickets can I get with my membership? The Park Theater opens two hours prior to the start time of the event.Can I bring food to outdoor events? Yes, you are welcome to bring a picnic for outdoor summer concerts and films in the Museum Park. No glass containers are permitted. Only sealed beverage containers are permitted. This policy means beverage containers must be sealed with the manufacturer’s seal. All other containers such as plastic pitchers, Igloo-type containers, water bottles, cups, etc. are not permitted. Please leave those items at home or in your vehicle. (Parents may bring baby bottles or sippy cups for their young children.Can I bring my pet? With the exception of assistance animals, pets are not allowed in the Museum Park Theater. Leashed dogs are allowed on the paved trails in the Museum Park. Please remember to use the pet stations and clean up after dogs.What happens if it rains for outdoor events? Outdoor events are held rain or shine. In case of very bad weather, concerts may be canceled. Cancellation decisions may be made as late as show time. If a cancellation occurs, refunds for the face value of tickets will be issued. See the following page for details.Can I bring a chair to outdoor concerts? Ticket holders for general admission seating for outdoor films and concerts are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit on.In the Museum Park Theater, what is the difference between reserved seating and general admission seating? Seats with seatbacks are assigned in the reserved seating area in the Museum Park Theater, which is directly in front of the stage. The majority of the general admission seating is lawn seating with a limited number of nonbacked bench seats available to the far right and left side of the seated area. These areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis.Is the Museum Park Theater wheelchair accessible? Yes. The Museum Park Theater is accessible by wheelchair via ramps.(back to top) |
